On 4 February 2024, Cornwall Orienteering Club (KERNO) will be hosting an orienteering event on Kit Hill, near Callington, Cornwall. Entries are now open.
This is open to everyone, and we encourage newcomers to join us. No experience is necessary, and there are courses to suit all levels of skill and fitness. I’ve put together an introduction to orienteering to explain what to expect.
Orienteering needs new participants to keep this amazing sport alive, and I hope this event will be a perfect opportunity to give it a go.
I am the course planner, for the first time, and would be delighted to be joined by as many people as possible – friends, family, club members and strangers. Please spread the word, and feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
I am designing the course with the help of my parents, Judy and Alan Nesbit (Quantock Orienteers), and good friend James Buckley (Devon Orienteering). We went out in glorious sun and chilly mist. We exchanged draft course ideas across countries, and sat together at our computers to plan with the help of some cider. It was a lot of fun, and we hope you enjoy the result.

Fellow members of KERNO were also integral to the process, particularly the mapper John Moody and the controller Steve Beech.
